Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 April 2026

These terms apply to your use of Reserva, a central bank simulation game created for academic research. Please read them carefully before creating an account or taking part in the game.

1. About Reserva

Reserva is an educational and research game that simulates monetary policy decisions and central bank activity. The game is not financial advice, investment advice, or a real-world banking service. Decisions made in the game do not affect real money, real markets, or any real central bank.

2. Who can take part

You may only use Reserva if you are able to enter into these terms and you follow any participation requirements given to you by the research team. You must provide accurate information when registering and must keep your login details secure.

3. Research participation

By participating in Reserva, you agree that the outcomes of the games you play, the moves and decisions you make during those games, and related gameplay data may be used for academic research purposes. This includes analysis, teaching, conference presentations, working papers, journal articles, books, reports, and other academic publications.

Published research may describe aggregate trends, statistical results, gameplay patterns, and examples from the simulation. We will not intentionally publish your password or private account credentials. Where research outputs include participant-level examples, we will take reasonable steps to avoid identifying you directly unless you have separately agreed otherwise.

4. Your responsibilities

You agree that you will not:

5. Availability and changes

Reserva is provided for research and may change over time. We may update, pause, restrict, or withdraw the game, accounts, features, or experiments where needed for research, security, maintenance, legal, or operational reasons.

6. Intellectual property

Reserva, including its software, design, text, branding, and game materials, belongs to us or our licensors. You may use Reserva only for the purpose of participating in the game and associated research. You must not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit Reserva unless we have given you written permission.

7. Data protection and privacy

We will handle personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 where they apply. Gameplay data and research data may be retained and analysed for academic research. Further details about what data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your rights should be set out in a separate privacy notice or participant information sheet.

8. No warranties

Reserva is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not promise that the game will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for any particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of data, loss of opportunity, or loss arising from your use of or inability to use Reserva. Our total liability to you in connection with Reserva will be limited to the amount you paid to use the service, if any.

10. Ending your participation

You may stop using Reserva at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, misuse the service, or if continued participation would affect the integrity, safety, legality, or operation of the research. Research data already collected may continue to be used where permitted by law and the applicable research materials.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these terms, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

12. Contact

If you have questions about Reserva, these terms, or the research, please contact the research team using the contact details provided with your participant information or account materials.
